Mother arrested, charged in child’s death after 4-year-old ate THC gummies, police say
A Tennessee woman has been arrested and charged with murder after a 4-year-old boy ate THC gummies, police said Saturday.The child’s mother had been arrested for child abuse after being accused of putting THC-infused gummy bears in the 4-year-old’s mouth, records state.Her arrest was made after police received a tip about the gummy bears found last month in the 5-year-old’s bed at their home in the suburb of Madison.Police said the boy ate two of the THC-infused gummies before his death. Investigators were trying to determine whether the THC-infused gummies had been tampered with.The child’s father had been charged with child abuse, police said.Madison police said they had suspected the boy had ingested THC when they found the gummy food in his mouth. A search warrant was reportedly executed at the home and authorities found the child had ingested the THC-infused gummies.The mother of the two suspects was arrested during a traffic stop. She had a child but there was no evidence she had abused the child, Madison police said.The child died of an accidental death, police said in a release. Madison Mayor Gary Brown also praised the work of the Madison Police Department.
